Benefits of vegan diet
In the modern world, more and more people become concerned about their health. They begin to think of what they eat. However, it’s not an easy task to get into the subject of healthy eating, for there’s a lot of conflicting information on what is good and what is not good for our health.
Thus, though the information on harm caused by meat-diet appears everyday and more and more well-known people become vegetarians and vegans, the idea that animal protein is required for human health is still widely spread. Up to now many people are ignorant about the results of scientific researches stating the harm caused to human health by meat products. The information about the harm caused by dairy products are spread even poorer. Meanwhile, it is firmly stated that the ingredients of animal origin contain poisonous agents (e.g. dioxins) and that dairy protein causes cancer.
More and more people experience the benefits of vegan diet. Calcium requirement can be easily satisfied with vegetable products. In fact, calcium from vegetables assimilates far better than calcium from dairy products. In contrast, sulphur-containing amino acids contained in meat, milk and eggs cause the washout of calcium from the body and, consequently, cause osteoporosis. Needless to say about tons of hormones used by breeders and causing many deceases for people who consume meat and milk.
While many physicians continue to acclaim that meat and milk are necessary elements of human diet, the Canadian Association of Dietarians and American Association of Dietarians have published a report stating that properly arranged vegan ration suits for people of all ages and even for pregnant and lactating women. Meanwhile, German dietarian Claus Laitzman reports that the health of vegans proved better according to the results of clinical researches. In 2009 the American Association of Dietarians took it a step further and began to recommend vegetarian and vegan diets as healthy and preventing many deceases.
However, vegan diet is more preferable than vegetarian because the last includes dairy products and eggs and, consequently, can cause the harm to human body by cholesterol, excessive fats etc.
Professor Collin Campbell states in his book that milk protein (named cosein) is the most powerful carcinogen, while vegetable proteins don’t accelerate tumor growth even being consumed in large quantities. Professor also emphasizes strong interrelation between a diet including animal proteins and early climax, hormonal dysregulations, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, fatness, brittleness of bones, visual impairments etc. However, the shift to vegetarian diet can rescue from many of these problems.
It is well known that former U.S. president Bill Clinton had been a vegan for some time. In this matter he had followed the recommendation of Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn who was awarded American Best Physician in Charge in 1994/1995. In his book he describes how he improve health even of serious patients by putting them on vegan diet. His opinion is that the excess of animal fats often causes heart deceases. And that explains poor condition of health of some vegetarians who quit eating meat but still eat eggs and dairy products as well as ice cream, sweets and bakings made with the use of animal fats. With the help of vegan diet Bill Clinton had recovered from coronary decease which threatened his life.
